Birdsville

Mount Henderson ... Checkout the hole on the right side of the mountain

We caught up with a tag along tour group ... pretty much followed them all the way to Birdsville

Deon's Lookout

The good bit of the dirt road

The not so good bit

This was the third RFDS airstrip we came across in out travels

The dust was horrendous

Was hoping that the Betoota would be open ... maybe next time.
Website: Betoota Hotel

Campground across the from the Betoota Hotel

Ready to go ... just needs the council go ahead

Our tag along tour beat us to the Betoota Hotel

Finally arrived in Birdsville ... 7.5 hours to do 380 Klm's

It was very green around Birdsville after the floods

Our campsite at the Birdsville Caravan Park.

Shorty trying to clean ... uphill battle

The tyre cover should be jet BLACK

The sullage didn't work too well ... idiots who planned the park put the sullage point higher than the van ... maybe they don't know that water doesn't travel uphill

The iconic Birdsville Hotel ... bit of a let down ... food ordinary and booze prices really expensive ... better country pubs around

Public Bar at the Birdsville Pub

Bakery not open ... Camel pie will need to wait

Funny ... entrance to the park

The reason we had no power ... so paying $40 a night for a site with no power
This was on a pole just outside the caravan park

On our way to Big Red.

Big Red

Not a good look ... but the only way to beat the flies

The site of the Big Red Bash

Finally hot enough to sit outside except for the flies

Birdsville Roadhouse come General Store ... everything expensive
